What does version 1.0.1 mean?

In the past, many times I have stumbled upon software that was versioned like this: 1.0.1 – 3 numbers, separated by dots. I was always wondering why 3 numbers? For those who still don’t know – it turns out, there’s a specification that standardizes this schema and it’s very popular in the software industry. It’s called Semantic Versioning 2.0.0 (or semver in short).

Hello, world!

Hi! My name is Michał Nestorowicz and I am a software engineer based in Wrocław, Poland. I am currently working as a Software Architect at Nokia. I am very curious about every aspect of designing, writing, and running software and I have created this blog as a place to gather interesting articles, posts, and tutorials on various topics related to IT. The blog was created mainly for selfish reasons, but I thought I could at the same time easily share the information I find interesting with others – my friends and everyone else. Another reason is the possibility to discuss in the comments, which is always welcome! From time to time I might write an article myself, but let’s see how that goes in the future.

Have fun and see you in the comments!
